Meet the Inventor
Thys Wind has been a life-long athlete and outdoor enthusiast. He moved to the U.S. from the Netherlands in 1987. In his childhood and teen years he was a competitive swimmer. He developed a love for running after cheering on his dad in the 1993 Boston Marathon. Since then Thys has completed numerous marathons and triathlons of all distances including world famous events such as the Boston Marathon and Ironman World Championships.
During his years of training and racing, Thys completed his Master's Degree in Health Fitness Management. Following this he was a corporate fitness trainer and started his own coaching business.
In 2007 Thys started working for Endurance Magazine. During his nine years there he served as Director of Events and helped create the Tar Heel 10 Miler on the UNC campus in Chapel Hill, the Bull City Race Fest on Duke’s campus in Durham, as well as Ramblin' Rose women’s triathlon events across the Carolinas. In 2015 he left this position to become CEO of the Wind household raising two kids.
Thys has experience with athletes of all levels from amateur to professional. Throughout the years as athlete, coach, and race director he saw time and again the importance of nutrition in endurance sports. This was the nidus for inventing the Swivel Bottle.
